When it comes to white water rafting and kayaking, Nepal has the best on offer in the world. Nepal has rivers to cover every level of white water activity after the monsoon offers the most adrenaline packed rivers to all adventure seekers.

This mountainous country spoils the adventure for choice when it comes to white water. Not only is rafting a great action adventure holiday, but it's a great way to discover the beauty of Nepal. The rivers all originate high up in the Himalaya and snake there way downwards through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Not only do you get to see first hand Nepal's nature but also you get to experience her ancient and unique culture as you raft through remote villages and farm land. Nepal's selection of rivers covers a range of grades which accommodate everything from the ultimate adrenaline adventure, an action packed river ride to a fun family holiday.

Some of the remote rivers offer long rafting trips which incorporate some trekking. The best seasons for rafting are September through mid-December and March through early May. Some rivers can be rafted from late June through to august.

In Nepal the government has opened 16 rivers graded on a scale of 1 to 5 for commercial rafting but there are 7 main rivers which will provide you with a rewarding rafting/ kayaking experience.

Rafting Itinerary:

Day 01:

Drive to Charaudi for ¾ hours, the rafting put-in-point then we will meet our raft crew. The leader of the raft will give a short briefing on safety procedure. The whole day we encounter several big and small rapids but the main interest is after Majhimtar which is just before the “upset” rapid and according to the Colorado River rating scale this rapid has been rated from 3 to 4. . All tricky rapids bear Nepali names as well as common names, which you will be told by the rafting guide.
Lunch will be served on the beach of the river just before going through the Upset rapids. Shortly after lunch we will encounter another rapid known as “surprise”. It is indeed, for the current accelerates and the rapids increase in size and frequency. Overnight at Kurinighat Camp

Day 02:

After breakfast, we will continue rafting encountering Mugling & Simaltal rapids and pass the Marshyangdi River, which has flowed down, from Manang valley. Arrive put-out-point, drive to next destination.

 
   
 

Sunkoshi River Rafting :

Rafting Itinerary:

Day 01:

In the early morning 7:30 we drive to the put-in point at Dholalghat or Nepal Tar. Through out the drive, we have wonderful views of the ancient city of Bhaktapur and magnificent view of the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival at Dholalghat or Nepal tar, we unload the gear- lunch will be served and our expedition leader will give a full safety briefing, then we hit the first major rapid “MEATGRINDER”class 4-it's a fairly straight run down the center, avoiding holes left and right. A few meters below here the Tama Koshi River joins in the Sunkoshi from the left. Few km below the confluence of the Likhu Khola is a short, class 3 rapid “pre- Anxiety” and this is followed by along class 4 rapid “High Anxiety with a large hole on the left halfway down and a series at the bottom. Float a while and camp at Khurkot.

Day 02:

On this day of our expedition we will start with several classes 4+ and 5 rapids, so we should prepare the hardest and most interesting one, Harkapur 2 and 3, which should be carefully scouted, which is in the top ten rapids of the world. Camp at Harkapur.

Day 03:

Some km below Harkpur, Dudhkoshi River joins in the Sunkoshi from the left. Below here, the river valley widens into an arid area of the gravel and rocks. You meet exciting rapids followed by “Jaws”-quite a long rapid with a large rock on the bottom right that forms a huge hole at certain levels. We camp out after jaws.

Day 04:

On this day, you will encounter with mostly 4+ rapids you go straight into good the exciting rapid “rhino Rock “which is a grade 4+ followed by “Jungle Corridor” a kilometer of continuous white water, at the end of these rapids a series of water falls cascades in from both banks and this is great place for a wash, massage and recuperation.

Day 05, 06 & 07:

Last few days are mainly wave trains .If you are interested “try to upset the raft and rescue with the help of the rope; you can try Kayaking, swimming.” Our expedition leader will teach you basic skills, which are needed to maneuver the boat or learn Eskimo roll. The last day of our expedition, brings you to the last major rapid class 4+ “Big Dipper a series of huge standing waves, an exciting climax. A few km. later and mighty Arun river enters from a gorge on the left, almost immediately after wards, the Tamor River also adds its water and the combined river becomes the Sapta Koshi (Seven rivers). Then you float along on the powerful current and then, rounding a corner, a new suspension bridge swoops high over the river and the hill dramatically gives way to totally flat terai and the northern plains of India, this is the end of a classic and memorable river journey. We will finish our trip at Chatara; pack the gear and then drive back to Kathmandu, Royal Chit wan National Park or Pokhara.

 
 

Kali Gandaki River Rafting :

Rafting Itinerary:

Day 01: Drive to the rafting put-in-point at Baglung, throughout the drive we have wonderful views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks as well as the sacred Fishtail Mountain. Upon arrival we unload gear. We serve lunch and our professional guides will give you a full safety briefing. After briefing it is straight in the grade 4 rapid Little brother followed quickly by Big Brother. If you have any doubts you have no time to think about them now! It is grade 4 to 4+ all the way! The scenery is impressive with blue green water, high sided lush green valleys and amphitheatres of golden sandstone cliffs with eagles riding the updrafts. On the left, pass a fascinating temple and ghat at the river1s confluence with the Modi Khola. Tonight we camp at one of nature's five star sites with mind blowing views and dancing waterfalls.

Day 02 : Today is continuous grade 3 to 4 world-class white water with rapids like Rafter's Refund and our Breaker. Wave trains and holes abound early so watch out if you don't want to flip! Adrenalin junkies hold on tight but don't forget to keep glancing back upstream to catch views of the amazing Annapurna's. Once camped, the village of seti Beni is just a short walk upstream and guarantees to delight with its stone flagged lanes and curious youngsters skylarking.

Day 03: As we continue downstream, the river cliffs narrow eerily above us and we enter a somber canyon glistening with wet black rocks. You experience what can only be seen from the water, so drink it all in as we drift towards our take out point. After lunch we take the four hour drive back to Pohkara.
